Sexual Violence Counsellor/Advocate

Part Time - 30 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic female counsellor/advocate to join our supportive, small, professional team.

As our new Sexual Violence Counsellor/Advocate you will provide:

  • crisis, short, medium and long term support and counselling to women, young women and older women who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives

  • support and information to significant others

  • advocacy for women where necessary to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes for them with other organisations and systems

  • sexual violence awareness through group work and community education.

Selection Criteria

In order to be considered for this position, your cover letter MUST respond to the following selection criteria.

  • KSC1 – MUST have completed a recognised degree in psychology, counselling, social work or behavioural sciences. Previous experience relevant to the duties of the position preferred.

  • KSC2 – Ability to articulate a comprehensive feminist analysis of sexual violence, an understanding of trauma and the effects of violence against women.

  • KSC3 – Ability to articulate a well-developed framework for the provision of high quality counselling to women of diverse backgrounds.

  • KSC4 – Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and show initiative whilst continuing to operate effectively as part of a team.

  • KSC5 – General ability or ability to rapidly acquire an understanding of Queensland legislation pertaining to violence against women.

  • KSC6 – General ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills in developing and delivering group work and community education.

  • KSC7 – MUST Possess a current Blue Card and “C” class drivers licence.

Domestic & Family Violence Counsellor

Part Time - 30 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic female DFV counsellor to join our supportive, small, professional team within our Women's Health and Wellbeing Program.

As our new Domestic & Family Violence Counsellor you will provide:

  • support, information and therapeutic counselling to women, young women and older women who have experienced domestic violence and are beyond crisis safe and stable

  • advocacy for women where necessary to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes for them with other organisations and systems

  • domestic violence awareness through group work and community education.
