Sexual Violence Counsellor/Advocate

Part Time - 30 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic female counsellor/advocate to join our supportive, small, professional team.

As our new Sexual Violence Counsellor/Advocate you will provide:

  • crisis, short, medium and long term support and counselling to women, young women and older women who have experienced sexual violence at any time in their lives

  • support and information to significant others

  • advocacy for women where necessary to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes for them with other organisations and systems

  • sexual violence awareness through group work and community education.

Selection Criteria

Previous sexual violence counselling experience preferred.

In order to be considered for this position you will need to satisfy each of the following criteria:

  • A degree in either Social Work, Behavioural Science, Psychology or Counselling 

  • Current Blue Card & Open Drivers Licence

In your cover letter you MUST respond to the following selection criteria.

  • An understanding of the feminist analysis of sexual violence, of trauma, and the impacts of sexual violence.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality counselling to women of diverse backgrounds within a well developed feminist framework.

  • Demonstrated skills or ability to rapidly acquire skills in developing and delivering group work and community education

  • Demonstrated possession of highly developed interpersonal/communication skills. This includes an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Indigenous Australians and people from other cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Domestic & Family Violence Counsellor

Part Time - 30 hours per week

We are seeking a dynamic female DFV counsellor to join our supportive, small, professional team within our Women's Health and Wellbeing Program.

As our new Domestic & Family Violence Counsellor you will provide:

  • support, information and therapeutic counselling to women, young women and older women who have experienced domestic violence and are beyond crisis safe and stable

  • advocacy for women where necessary to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes for them with other organisations and systems

  • domestic violence awareness through group work and community education.

Selection Criteria

Previous Domestic Violence Counselling experience essential.

In order to be considered for this position you will need to satisfy each of the following criteria:

  • A degree in either Social Work, Behavioural Science, Psychology or Counselling 

  • Experience in DFV counselling

  • Current Blue Card & Open Drivers Licence

In your cover letter you MUST respond to the following selection criteria.

  • Ability to articulate a comprehensive feminist analysis of DFV, and an understanding of trauma and the impacts of violence against women
