SUPPORT SERVICES AND HELPLINES

24/7 Helplines

  • 1800 RESPECT:​1800737732 or access online counselling through their website.Provides qualified and experienced counsellors who can provide information and refer you to additional support services that can help.

  • DV CONNECT (Domestic Violence) Womensline:
    1800 811 811 (call not recorded on your phone account). A state-wide telphone service for women and their children experiencing domestic and/or family violence. This service is staffed by a team of dedicated professional counsellors who provide crisis intervention, support, information, advocacy, telephone counselling, referrals and importantly, the statewide coordination of emergency refuge and shelter placements across Queensland.

  • GOLD COAST MENTAL HEALTH CARE​:1300 642 255 Advice, referrals, crisis response, and support.

  • SUICIDE CALLBACK SERVICE:1300 659 467 Suicide Call Back Service is a free nationwide service providing phone and online counselling to people affected by suicide.

  • KIDS HELPLINE:1800 55 1800. Free, private and confidential phone and online counselling service for young people aged 5 to 25y.

  • LIFELINE​: 131114 or access their online chat. Lifeline provides all Australians experiencing a personal crisis with access to online, phone and face-to-face crisis support and suicide prevention services. Find out how these services can help you, a friend or loved one.

  • POLICELINK QLD​: 131 444 or visit the website for a range of reporting options. Anytime you would like to report a non-urgent crime or incident, or for general police enquiries you can contact Policelink.

Other Helplines

  • SEXUAL ASSAULT HELPLINE​: 1800 010 120 For persons with a hearing impairment: TTY 1800 003 98. The Queensland State Wide Sexual Assault Helpline is a free, confidential service.  It is open 7.30am to midnight, 7 days a week. 

  • DV CONNECT Mensline:1800 600 636 (9am – midnight 7 days). A state-wide telephone service staffed by male counsellors and offering confidential counselling and information, and acts as a strategic point of referral for Queensland men around issues of domestic and family violence, relationship problems and other significant issues for men. 

  • BRAVEHEARTS​: 1800 272 831 (8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday AEST). Australia's leading child protection advocate, Bravehearts aims to empower, educate and protect in order to make Australia the safest country in the world to raise a child. 

  • ELDER ABUSE PREVENTION UNIT​: 1300 651 192 (9am-5pm Mon-Fri). Promotes the rights of older people to live free from abuse.

  • SAMSN (SURVIVOR & MATES SUPPORT NETWORK): 1800 472 676. ​Provides face to face counselling (offices are in NSW), telephone, email and web counselling (all of Australia).  This service is for men, partners and supporters.

  • VICTIM ASSIST QUEENSLAND​: 1300 546 587 (9am-4.30pm Mon-Fri). Information and advice for victims of crime; including information about support services, victims’ rights and financial assistance.

  • WOMEN'S LEGAL SERVICE QUEENSLAND: 1800 957 957 (9am-4.30pm Mon-Fri). A specialist community legal centre providing free legal and social work help to people who live and identify as women in Queensland.

  • LGBTI LEGAL SERVICE​: 07 3124 7160 or Text 0485 908 380 Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. Provides legal advice and information to clients who have legal problems which arise from their identification as LGBTI and/or because they feel more comfortable in dealing with a solicitor with specific skills, interest and understanding of LGBTI legal issues and/or the barriers experienced by LGBTI peoples in accessing the legal system.
